French Lops
Price: £40.00

Please Ring For Availibility

French Lops are wonderful, big bunnies weighing upwards of 4.5kgs. They have large, thickset bodies with a large, broad head and a general chunky build. They have great personality and character - tending to bond closely with their owner and displaying much affection. Frenchies make perfect house-bunnies, ideally living free-range in your bunny-proofed home with their litter tray, bowl and bottle tucked into a quiet area of your home or their own indoor cage with attached play-pen during unsupervised periods if they are still settling-in or are not yet fully litter-trained. They can also live outdoors in conventional hutches but these need to be big - about 1.8m (6')wide x 1.2m (3') deep and 60cm (2') high to allow plenty room to stretch out. An exercise pen or access to your garden will also be required. If a bunny has to live outdoors in a hutch then we always advise that they should be housed in neutered pairs, a castrated boy with a spayed girlfriend, to provide companionship, stimulation and help prevent boredom. Generally it is best to purchase a pair - ideally a boy-girl pair together but the boy must be castrated IMMEDIATELY he reaches puberty, usually around 12-16 weeks of age. If you are not purchasing both bunnies together either as a boy-girl or girl-girl pair (ideally littermate sisters) If a girl is adopted first then there is no guarantee she will accept a boy on 'her' territory as females are much more territorial than boys. If she is a mature female aged over 5 months then she will probably need to be spayed first then 5 weeks later may be more willing to accept her new boyfriend - A partner or companion is not essential for indoor house-bunnies as they tend to receive far more stimulation and companionship from their humans when living as a member of the family.
