Cinamon Pineapple Conures

The Green Cheeked Conure is one of the smaller and more popular breeds of this species growing to around 9 to 11 inches in length with a life expectancy of around 15 years. Many people get this little fellow mixed up with his little cousin the maroon bellied conure which isn't hard to do,as they look very similar, the way to tell is that the Green Cheeked Conure's tail is entirely maroon in colour, where as the Maroon Bellied Conure is only maroon underneath. These make sweet little pets, but have big personalities, they are also relativley quiet compared to there larger cousins.Conures like the green cheeked are easy to keep and are known to talk quiet a bit but this depends on the individual,Conures are active and playful birds, who need a large cage to clamber around in a large cockatiel cage will do for the small conures such as the green cheeked. Diet: Conures aren't picky about their foods. Being enormously curious and playful, they like a very varied diet and should be provided with foods that offer a wide variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and textures. Pellets that come in different shapes and colors are often preffered over "plain" pellets. Conures are prone to "Conure Bleeding Sydrone", which is thought to be caused by a lack of Vitamin K, which is found in foods like broccoli.Personality: Conures are active, playful, bold, and affectionate. One minute they'll be acting the clown, climbing on their toys and screaching in mock anger, the next minute they'll be curled next to you, begging for a scratch. Hand-fed conures are real sweethearts, always begging for attention. They're great at learning tricks; many will lie on their back and "play dead", and hanging upside-down from a finger is an easy one. Some conures are are one-person birds, others more out-going. Regardless, he'll probably pick a favorite person, and they'll be some liberties he'll allow only that person. They can be moody, but in a good way. Some conures can be nippy, especially with people they don't know, but a little careful training can rid most of the problem. Overall, conures are affectionate clowns who are a whole lot of fun to own. We at adlington pets will be happy to give advice on housing, feeding, toys, and supplements. REASONS WHY TO OWN A GREEN CHEEKED CONURE 1. They are not loud compared to other parrots and conures. They are in the Pyrrhura genus and make about one half the noise of a Sun or Jenday Conure which makes them similar to Cockatiels there for ideal for flats or apartments. 2. They are small birds with big bird personalities! They play just like a large parrot or macaw - they will use their feet to hold things, roll on their back to play or sleep. They love to wrestle with and then be scratched by their favorite human. 3. They are easy to feed and not as destructive as a large parrot. 4. They are easy to house with their ideal size they can use most cockatiel cages and they do not need the heavy bars of a more expensive cage. 5. Green-Cheeks have oil glands they use to preen their feathers and do not create the dust found on cockatiels, cockatoos, and African Gray Parrots. Allergy sufferers may be able to keep one. 6. Besides their personality and ideal size, they are available in amazing colour's (see Gallery) 7.
